THE FRAGMENTATION CHALLENGE
App security requirements are multiplying across jurisdictions as regulators push to secure digital services. The result is multiple rulebooks that can duplicate security efforts and slow innovation.
______
Compliance work crowds out security work
When teams reconcile overlapping requirements across markets, time and budget shift toward compliance and away from engineering that reduces risk.
______
Certified apps face multiple reviews
An application that's assessed under one jurisdiction may face a similar test in another. Multiple assessments can slow entry into new markets and add costs that slow new products.
______
Inconsistent rules weaken trust
When products are held to different standards across jurisdictions, it becomes challenging for regulators, platforms, and developers to rely on competing certifications.
______
Gaps increase across borders
Consistency across borders is still a work in progress. Products and threats often move across jurisdictions faster than the rules do.
A common baseline that's verified across markets.
The App Defense Alliance offers an open certification baseline for app security and a certification system, so that an assessment from a certified testing lab can be recognized across markets. Our members are industry leaders united in a common approach to raising the bar for app security across markets.
The Alliance's certification draws on open, industry-recognized security frameworks to create interoperability across jurisdictions.
Products are tested by accredited, independent labs, and results are confirmed by a separate certification body.
