Assurance Levels
The Alliance has adopted a tiered approach to certification that varies the depth and intensity of assessment according to risk level. Higher-risk products undergo more rigorous testing and evaluation compared to lower-risk products.
This tiered structure ensures that resources are allocated efficiently while maintaining appropriate levels of scrutiny for products that require greater assurance.
AL 1 – Verified Self Assessment
The developer runs the test cases and submits evidence of meeting the requirements to an authorized lab, who confirms the result.
AL 2 – Lab Assessment
An authorized lab performs testing directly, providing the highest level of assurance that the product has met the necessary requirements.
Certification Validity
