Assurance Levels
The Alliance has adopted a tiered certification approach that varies the depth and intensity of assessment by risk level. Higher-risk products undergo more rigorous testing and evaluation.
This tiered structure ensures that resources are allocated efficiently while maintaining suitable levels of scrutiny for products that require greater assurance.
AL 1 – Verified Self Assessment
The developer typically performs the required testing; an authorized lab evaluates the evidence and determines the outcome. Some platforms may require the lab to perform some or all testing directly.
AL 2 – Lab Assessment
An authorized lab performs the full application assessment, evaluates and documents the results, and prepares the assessment report for submission to the independent certification body.
Certification Validity
